About

Learn a little bit about us and what we believe here at Base Church.

Pastor David and Eileen

We’re David and Eileen. We have been married for 16 years and have two children, our son Titus who is ten and our six-year-old daughter Emery. My wife Eileen was born and raised here in the city of Indio, and I moved into the valley 22 years ago. We have been serving together in ministry since before we were married and through that time God has put us into many different roles including Audio/Visual, children’s ministry, College group, Eileen as children’s ministry director, and myself also as Elder and Assistant Pastor. We’ve loved the opportunities that we have had to serve in all of these various roles and others, but we know now definitively that God has called us to plant Base Church here in the Coachella Valley. The interesting thing is that we thought that He was preparing us to plant it elsewhere. Back in 2019 we knew that God was stirring within us a next step in ministry. We thought at that time that it was going to be out of this area and so we took an initial step of faith and moved our family out to San Bernardino.

We took this step to get out of our comfort zone and have a time to really pray and consider the place that God was going to direct us to. In San Bernardino we had a great opportunity to still support and serve in ministry while we were doing this. We continued to seek the Lord and asked even if He wanted us to stay in San Bernardino or where else He would have us go and what He wanted us to do. We even went to visit a couple of other places as potential locations for a church a plant, but through every direction considered, every prayer prayed, much time spent in His Word, many different conversations had, it just became so clear that God’s call after San Bernardino was to come back to Indio. But we are really happy to be back after a couple of years away and truly excited to see what God wants to do at Base Church. Our heart is for God’s glory, a love for His word, for discipleship, for healthy church community, and reaching those that still need Jesus. We know that we can’t accomplish all of this in our own ability, but we trust in the God of Ephesians 3:20-21 which says:

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

We trust that He will bring His power to bear and more of His people to this ministry so that all of this and more can be accomplished for His glory because He truly is “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think”.

What We Believe

God

We believe in the one true God. We believe He is triune, that He is one yet exists in three persons. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All sharing the same being, nature, power, attributes, and glory. There is none like Him and He is completely in control of all things.
Genesis 1:1, Matthew 3:16-17, Isaiah 40:28, Deuteronomy 6:4

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Since it is His word, it carries all of the weight and authority of who He is. It is the bottom line for every instruction in faith and living, it is perfect as it was originally written, and it is still completely relevant in this culture and in this day.
2 Timothy 3:15-17, Psalm 19:7-10, 2 Peter 1:19-21, Hebrews 4:12

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the gift of God that He graciously provides. Every person on this Earth is born a sinner and acts out in that sin and rebellion against our perfect God and that sin separates us from Him. And because of that separation God the Son Jesus Christ came down as a man, born of a virgin, to save His people. Our sin deserves the penalty of death, but Jesus took that penalty upon Himself as He was nailed to, bled, and died on a Roman cross. He was then buried in a tomb for three days and then just as He said would happen, He rose from the dead victorious over sin, death, and Satan. We have a living Savior who invites us to believe in what He has done for us, to turn away from our sin and place our faith in Him, and proclaim Him as Lord of our lives. In this we are saved, eliminating the separation from God that was there because of our sin, but now brought near in relationship by this incredible gift of our loving, gracious, and merciful God. And true salvation in Christ Jesus cannot be lost, which leaves us with great assurance in the hope that we have in Him.
Ephesians 2:1-10, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 4:10-12, Romans 8:38-39

The Church

We believe that the church is made up of all believers worldwide, but is also established at the local level in churches such as this. We are the body of Christ and Christ Himself is the head of the body. Together we unite because of our common relationship with Christ and together we seek His purposes in this world that He might be glorified and so that those still separated from Him might by our testimony of the truth of the Gospel message be brought near to our Great God.
Ephesians 2:19-22, Acts 2:42-47, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

Ministry/Gifts

We believe that every believer, every saved person that has placed their faith in the Lord Jesus for salvation now has God the Holy Spirit living inside of them. To every believer the Holy Spirit gives one or more spiritual gifts in different measures and every believer has the responsibility to use these gifts for the building up of the church, for the building up of their fellow believers. Every believer and their gifting is unique and completely necessary within the function of the church, the Body of Christ. If we are going operate at maximum capacity, if we are going to see God get all of the glory that He deserves, then we all must use the gifts that He has given us to seek that same goal together.
1 Peter 4:7-11, Romans 12:1-8, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

The Mission

We believe that our mission, just as Jesus gave it to us, is to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that Jesus commanded us. We will do this within the local church through small scale discipleship, in our community through evangelism and outreach, and worldwide supporting various missions and missionaries.
Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15

Baptism

We believe that baptism is a response of obedience from one that has already placed their faith in the work of Jesus Christ and proclaimed Him as Lord. Baptism does not save someone and it is not required for one to be saved. It is a public display of the salvation that is already present to all those around you that we may rejoice with you because of the great work that God has done.
Acts 8:34-37, Romans 6:4, Matthew 28:19

Communion

We believe that communion also is for believers only. It is a time for the believer to deal with unconfessed sin and to come in remembrance of and thanksgiving for the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ who died in our place for our sin.
